STEP 3: REJUVENATE
This step refers to the attempt to rejuvenate or reintroduce desirable bacteria (ie. “good” bacteria, aka probiotics) into the intestines to re-establish proper good/bad bacterial balance. The great things about probiotics is that they maintain a delicate balance between the Intestinal tract and your immune system. For example, most people aren't aware that a majority of your body's immunity is made up in the GI tract. (for more reasons why I believe so heavily in maintaining that balance, check out my information here). When this balance is upset, like one side of a see-saw, disease and inflammation can result. A healthy GI tract prevents the overgrowth of bad bacteria, modulates disease processes, and prevents widespread inflammation throughout the body. But more than that, probiotics also coordinate the actions and reactions of various vitamins (Vitamin B12, folic acid, biotin, riboflavin, Vitamin K), give strength to your colon for cell growth and function, and help to break down toxins.
