was written about how women who listen to faster paced music worked harder than people who listen to slower-paced music. My first reaction was, "this is news?"
In the article, it states, "many women couldn't bear the thought of exercising on a treadmill, eliptical trainer, or rowing machine
without listening to their tunes. Music puts them in an upbeat mood and makes the time pass faster. British researchers confirmed the value of fast-paced music for boosting exercise intensity. People listening to fast-paced music enjoyed exercise more than people listening to slower-paced music. Pick a fast-paced playlist for a better workout. (Scandinavian Journal of Medicine Science Sports, 20: 662-669, 2010)"
After reading this, I wondered how people could actually spend time researching this. To me, it might seem to be commonsense. I work out to hard-rock, and the people I have spoken to at the gym listen to rock or up-tempo music. For me, I feel as if my energy level is increased, and I can lift more weight. I guess I should stop
being so judgmental (to each his own). For my next workout, I am going to listen to a Norah Jones station on Pandora and see how I feel. But I am curious. Is there anyone out there who listens to classical, John Denver,
or Yanni while working out?
