Let’s begin by starting with the men. I can normally classify every man that walks through the gym door as one of 4 types of fish. The first is the shark: the upper echelon of gym species. These are the men who look the part of muscle-head mantra. Big, bulky, focused are all ways to describe this top of the gym-food chain. Their personality is a bit of a mystery, and we really don’t know much about what they do when they are not at the gym. Often times quiet, they are there for one purpose, to exercise. Because of their appearance and size, they wouldn’t be considered social creatures. They can be quite intimidating so often times they are left alone to finish their workouts in peace.
the males who believe they look good and attempt to play the part quite well. They are there more for the social aspect of what a gym brings, and are certainly there to talk to the ladies. They wear the clothes and act the part that tries to bring out their best qualities. If you have ever seen a barracuda in the water, it simply sits in one place or swims lazily around staring at other fish to consume. Their motion is fluid and graceful. Their purpose is to eat, and once a barracuda has found its prey, watch out.
It becomes dangerous, moves fast, and has it has a mouth of razor sharp teeth wide open. This is a perfect description of those lady-killers at the gym. They move around from equipment to equipment, waiting to find a woman who looks pleasing and worthy of their attention. Notice how I didn't say they try to find a woman open to conversation because it matters none to this graceful killer of the sea.
The third type is the minnow. These are the men who have little knowledge of a weight-lifting program, and it shows on their slender and non-muscular frame. They can be solitary or congregate in groups; however, if they do congregate it is normally with its fellow species of minnows. Their movements are quick because of their size and stature in the water, and because they are the smallest of creatures in the sea, many other types of fish consume them. This is the reason they move in a jerking manner from machine-to-machine, attempting not to get in the way of other fish. They don’t intimidate anyone and are often used as bait to lure bigger fish. The ratio of minnows to the larger fish is astronomical, and you could probably classify most gym members as this species of fish.
